Of some sort will be bought

I suppose I’ll start with the definition of typography. Typography to me would be the use of different fonts, font size, line spacing, line length, color, and basically creative visual writing.

It was hard to come up with a site that would be a good example of typography, so I looked googled around and this is a site I concluded on. http://www.processtypefoundry.com/.

Yes, the site is indeed a site about typography but that’s not the reason I chose it. I chose it because of how attractive they make their site look just through type. As you may notice, there’s not many pictures on the site, they don’t have a large logo, nor do they have any animation. Their entire site design is based off of text size, text placement, font-type, content, and text organization.

The first key feature I want to talk about would be the menu. It’s a very simple menu, a nice small font, a easy color on the eyes for when you hover over or it’s an active page, and it’s very easy to follow. The right is the main navigation and the left is the sub navigation, which leaves the content enclosed in the middle. I think this is a very attractive setup.

The other key thing about this site is that it’s an e-commerce site where you can purchase types, but they don’t push this. There’s a simple order button under the sub navigtion and at the top, in a small font and a light color, there are links for you to view your cart and manage your account. I feel this is a good way to market through type, no one wants to be pressured into purchasing something from your site with large buttons and links that jump out at you that forces you to want to buy their product.

Well, I suppose I’m supposed to start a blog for CISS 215. I’ll be posting all these under the category “School Blog”. For those who are my usual readers, you probably personally know me so this first post will probably be irrelevent to you.

Let’s start with my name. It’s Brendan Do.

A background of computing in my life? Well, a good summary would be that I’m a developer, specifically a web developer. I specialize in PHP, XHTML, CSS, AJAX, and Javascript. I also have some knowledge in C#, Java, and C++.

Next on the agenda are my interests. I suppose my interests are mainly technology, cars, multimedia, and web & application development. Everyday I keep up with a few blogs. I read Gizmodo and Autoblog mainly to keep up with recent and future technology and cars.

My goals for this class are to achieve an ‘A’, expand my knowledge on creating several multimedia projects using the tools I have, and possibly improving my lack of visual creativity.

Concerns about this class? I guess my main concern for this course is my lack of visual creativity. I’m more about functionality than visual effect, which is why I’m a developer.

The calendar tells me today is the 21st guess that means school started good bye free time

..and a million things has happened..

I strongly desire to view the past as a movie. Why doesn’t my life archive like my gmail? *shrug*

It’s current -28º out with the wind chill.. Excuse me? No, that kills people.. There’s a reason no one lives in the arctic, because it’s as cold as it is here.. But Ohio is very populated.. Ugh. Well. Conclusively, I am going to California in March for a few days.. That should get me away from this cold. I’m pumped! No cold. Beaches. More beaches. Alcatraz. Islands. SO good..

I really miss the fall

And my MacBook battery is boned and won’t charge.. and I hate going to the Apple store with a passion.

As I’m laying here to avoid getting up for work and generally hating myself for not sleeping sooner I was reading on brendan logic and realized that brendan has been posting quite a lot so I start scrolling down and I get to one called men as I’m reading it it makes no sence men are trying to sleep with brendan but won’t date him? Then I realized it is not just me and brendan that still use brendan logic

I just thought to myself while playing Final Fantasy.. “Boy, wish I had an iPhone back in 8th grade so that I could text while there were loading screens during my video games.. that would’ve been the perfect time!” ..yeah, I believe I have a texting addiction problem. I gotta say though, this past month I’ll bet I have less than I have had in a long long time.. I don’t know how much though yet since the internets hasn’t been updating.

Head unit comes in tomorrow!

Ugh. I’ll just stop thinking about it.

Sometimes.. I think everything I touch turns into skittles, well, metophorically. Where is this coming from? Well, the skittle parts comes from the skittles commercial that all of you have probably seen, the one where everything the guy touches turns into skittles and at the end he gets pissed and smashes his desk and it turns into skittles.. Well, skittles are sweet, fun, delicious and useless. Well, sometimes I feel everything I encounter will turn useless eventually. Or dumb. Or well, I don’t know where I’m going with this.. I came up with this farfetched theory in the shower a few minutes ago and I thought “Oh! I’ll blog about this.” then I got on the lappy here and uh..well, don’t have much to blog about it. Just the concept in general I suppose.

Also my iPhone is syncing and I needed something to do because the backups take FOREVER. Then, I’m gonna go play me some Final Fantasy XII..

Still not 100% where we wanna go for spring break. Turns out, the grand canyon is almost 10 hours from Phoenix, which is that part of Arizona that um, receives planes.. I don’t think I’m gonna rent a car and drive 10 hours after a 6 hour flight to see a large ditch in the earth, as cool as that might be. I have this urge to possibly streak through the canyon. But! It’s a tossup between Phoenix, LA, or Ft. Lauderdale. What do you think? ..basically just want to go somewhere hWarm.

Since the Fall semester started till the end, there has been something a little big or big big to look forward to on the weekends or the end of the week, I feel that that has ended. It sort of saddens me because I need more hype to get through the week. I’m far too sleepy to live through the week with some hype to keep me awake. I guess during this time I was also complaining about how tired I was from all the events, but, events are generally a fun time..

Well, Spring semester.. here I come..

Not gonna be a long one tonight guys, pretty tired and have to go to bed..

Update on the credit card issue though.. Since I made that purchase for my head unit, apparently Chase thought it was a fraudulant purchase and decided to lock up my accounts, got that settled today. I can now not feel like an idiot when trying to pay for a meal and getting my credit cards denied. I used it to get me some TGI Fridays chicken fingers earlier!

In other news, I think that the grand canyon might be happening for spring break. If so, I am pumped. Warmth + My BFF + Vacations + Sleeps = Excitement & Fun
