It’s Been Awhile

Hey everyone what’s going on? I know it has been a crazy long time since I’ve written anything on here. Totally not my fault though. See I am currently on a 96 hour deployment notice so that means that whenever my phone rings and we get recalled I have 2 hours to get all my gear and be ready to rock out to anywhere in the world where we are needed. Also, on a really horrible note it means that I cannot drink until Feb. 11. I’ve been on this 96 hour thing for about 3 weeks now, yes if you can do math right that means that I could not drink on new years. So anyways we had our first recall like 2 Saturdays ago, and this new guy that we got showed up piss drunk. Mind you our recall was at 4 in the morning and at 9 when they took this guy to the MP station to get a breathalyser he blew a .15 something. Pretty ridiculous huh? But the kicker is like 2 days after that happened the guy passed out in his barracks room drunk with the door unlocked so got in even more trouble (reason being they conduct checks in the barracks every few hours to ensure that we lock our doors… like I’m 2 years old or something.). I do not understand what is so hard about not drinking for 6 weeks. I’m suffering though it but retards like him have to make us look bad. I hope they don’t kick him out though. I want to see them take all his rank half his pay for a few months and make him do extra duty forever. Yes. That would make me smile.

So anyway other than that I’ve been in class for the past two weeks. This week has been really boring because most of the time we spent on UNIX which hasn’t been the most interesting thing in the world. However the classes have helped me alot. We got recalled again on Tuesday to do an emergence deployment readiness exercise and that is still going on. Tomorrow is the last day though thank God! I haven’t really been too much help with it though since I am in school, which really bothers me. I’m the kinda person who cant just sit at a desk all day, which could explain why I hated school so much haha. I would much rather be out with everyone else busting my ass. But no instead I sit in school all day and wait until I get out to go and work. But oh well. So thats the update with the work life.

So lately my buddy John and I have been going over to the Franklin Mountains State Park and going what some would call hiking I guess. When you go with us though it’s more like mountain climbing. We tend to not follow the trails and just make our own way, which is generally straight up! But it’s cool because we get a good workout doing it. Last Sunday we went to these old Aztec caves that are in one of the mountains. (You can find the pictures on my myspace. Just click my picture to the right) It was really cool. The weird thing about hiking up there is you don’t see too many animals at all. All we’ve seen is a chipmunk and a couple of birds. I think its really weird too.

This Saturday I have my volunteer training class at the zoo. I am actually really excited. I talked to the lady in charge of volunteers there and she told me that they have some birds, one being a cockatoo, that need to be trained to be shown to the public. That is so freakin’ cool I don’t even know what to say! So needless to say I am totally stoked for this.

Well I think that is about it. I’ll get back to writing more often!
